About Seneca Falls, NY

Seneca Falls is the "Birthplace of Women's Rights." It was home to the first Women's Rights Convention in 1848 and is now home to the Women's Rights National Historic Park and the National Women's Hall of Fame.

Passing through the center of the Village is the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, a section of the Erie Canal connecting Cayuga and Seneca Lakes. This waterway played a significant role in the settlement and development of the community as the industrial revolution transformed Central New York. You can learn much about this Village and its broad impact on the history of the world by visiting the Urban Cultural Park Visitor Center and strolling through the Village on one of several walking tours.

The Seneca Falls Historical Society will give you a flavor of life in the Victorian era. Tours feature a restored 1880 Queen Anne mansion with 23 rooms, changing exhibits, and fascinating programs.

Close by is the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, where you can view a variety of waterfowl as they "stop over" on their migrations north and south. Traffic jams occur overhead in the spring and fall as thousands of honking geese pass through the area.

Natural beauty abounds in the surrounding Finger Lakes and State Parks. Day trip possibilities are endless, from wine tours to boat tours to antique hunting to outlet shopping.

Come visit our community and fall in love with the Finger Lakes ...
